Practice: The 3-Minute Reset
Skills you only use in emergencies don't hold. If the first time you reach for your anchor is during the worst moment of your month, it won't be there — it's not worn in yet. So we're going to install a three-minute daily reset, so the gap is trained and the anchor is automatic before the trigger ever shows up. This is the practice that turns everything in this wall from an idea into a reflex.

Hook
Skills you only use in emergencies don't hold. If the first time you reach for your anchor is during the worst moment of your month, it won't be there — it's not worn in yet. So we're going to install a three-minute daily reset, so the gap is trained and the anchor is automatic before the trigger ever shows up. This is the practice that turns everything in this wall from an idea into a reflex.
The structure
Here's the structure. Three minutes, three parts, one minute each. Minute one: your anchor. Feet, breath — long exhale — and the 3-2-1 you just learned. Minute two: Observe and Describe whatever's actually in you right now. Not what should be there — what's actually there. "I notice I'm tense. I'm having the thought that today's going to be hard." Minute three: Wise Mind. One honest question — "What does the wise part of me know about today?" — and you wait for the quiet answer. That's it. Anchor, observe, listen. Three minutes.
When to do it
Now, the hard part isn't the three minutes — it's remembering to do them. So don't rely on remembering. Tie it to something you already do every single day without fail. Your first coffee. The moment you park the car before you walk into work. Right before you open the laptop. Stack it on top of an existing habit so the existing habit becomes the reminder. This is how habits actually get built — not by motivation, by attachment to something already automatic.
Log it
And you're going to log it. Each day, one line: did it or didn't, and one word for what shifted. That log isn't busywork and it isn't for me — it's for you. It's how you see the gap widening over the week, because day to day you won't feel it. The log shows you the trend your feelings can't. Pull out the 7-Day Grounding Log worksheet attached to this lesson; that's where it goes.
The rep / deliverable
So here's your deliverable for this whole module, and it starts today: your 7-Day Grounding Log. One three-minute reset a day, one line logged. Five of seven days is a pass — but aim higher, because this is the wall everything else is built on. Do this, and when we get to the harder walls, the noticing will already be there waiting for you. That's wall one standing. In module two, we go into the hardest moments — distress tolerance, surviving what you can't fix.
