Welcome to the Room

Marcus sat in my group for three weeks before he said a word. When he finally talked, he said the thing almost everyone in that room was thinking: 'I think I'm just broken.' I want to tell you what I told him.

Name the state

If you bought this course, something in your life is asking more of you than you feel built to handle. You're tired in a way sleep doesn't fix. I'm not going to tell you to think positive. I spent twenty years as a cop before I became a therapist — I don't do slogans.

The core reframe

Here's the truth this whole course runs on: you are not broken. You are undertrained. Broken means something's wrong with you that has to be fixed. Undertrained means there are skills you were never taught — and skills can be built.

Text card: 'You are not broken. You are undertrained.'
The promise

Over the next six weeks you're not going to read about resilience. You're going to build it — one wall at a time — until you have a room inside you that holds when everything outside is trying to break you.

What to do now

Watch the lessons in order. Do the practice at the end of each module. The reading is optional; the reps are not.

Do this now

Before the next lesson, write down one sentence: what made you open this course? Keep it. You'll look at it again in Module 6.

Next, the three lies about resilience that keep people stuck — you've probably believed at least one. Next Lesson →

This is education, not therapy. The Resilience Room teaches skills drawn from DBT and related traditions. It is not medical or psychological treatment and does not establish a therapist–client relationship. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. This course is not for emergencies.
